THE COMPANY
Les Enfants Sérieux is a contemporary circus company based in Ardèche, France, which combines Chinese pole, scratching and clowning.
In their way of playing, Les Enfants Sérieux take everything seriously, from the deepest and most serious subjects to the most absurd.
"WHEN I WORK, I AM SERIOUS LIKE A CHILD AT PLAY"
Pablo Picasso
The children who make up the company are Ilaria Romanini and Jaime Monfort Miralles.
Jaime and Ilaria meet at the Académie Fratellini. Together they amuse themselves by bringing their first performances to life every time they get a chance to do it, treating subjects such as the history of misogyny or the manipulation of humans by technology, always ironically.
It was under these circumstances that the seed of Les Enfants Sérieux was planted. Their first professional collaboration was a family show directed by the clown Cédric Paga, aka Ludor Citrik: Demain Hier (Tomorrow, yesterday). A clowning and acrobatic show about human life, from birth to death, baby to elder, and which is still on tour nowadays, after more than 150 performances around France and Italy.
At the same time, Les Enfants Sérieux released on May the 7th their first personal creation: Happy Apocalypse to you, a street and/or theater clown show that celebrates life through the story of two eccentric characters and their tireless optimism in the face of all difficulties, including the Apocalypse.
